Letter of authenticity This letter confirms The Bodie Kid was the High Bidder in the Mernickle Holster Auction. This was held at the 2007 High Plains Drifters WESTERN STATES Championship in Fernley Nevada. This years Holster Auction brought in $2100.00 for the Fernley Chapter of the Boy Scouts. It is with great honor that we built this $4500.00 one of a kind, holster set for the Bodie Kid and in honor of the Boy Scouts. This year we featured the silver work of local Silversmith “Gene Consalvi” of Carson City Nevada. Each piece of silver featured on the rig is completely hand made and engraved. The Eagle ornament on the center back was hand forged then hand engraved with one of the hand made concho’s mounted on each side of the plate .A total of 30 hours was invested in the silver work by Gene. All silver used is 92.5% pure silver Once the silver was delivered to the Mernickle Holster shop Bob went ahead and designed the belt pattern to show off the silver in all its glory. We chose the Evil Roy belt holster design with some modifications to the belt only. We custom made the billets to show off a Concho on each end. Les Rhodes (our cutter) then picked out the leather and laid up the patterns. Once all the pieces were cut out we placed the concho’s strategically so when we installed the custom made knife case all concho’s were balanced for viewing. As soon as all the silver was temporarily installed on the belt holsters and knife case we sent it to our carver “Cathy Benoit” to do her carve magic. Cathy meticulously carved around each piece of silver taking more than double the carve time of normal carving projects. After Cathy was finished it came back to us for the dye. When the dry time was completed Patty Neel did her spot work. As soon as Patty was done the rig went to final assembly. This included gluing stitching etc. Patty then took over and did all the final burnishing to make a baby smooth show edge on everything. Once the rig was finally assembled we realized a total including the silver work time of 65 hours The people working on this project are as follows Bob Mernickle designer, Gene Consalvi Silversmith, Cathy Benoit Carver, Patty Neel Spot setter/ Burnishing, Les Rhodes pattern Cutter We at Mernickle Holster want to again thank you for your wonderful donation to the Boy scouts.
